EGX Rezzed: 5 Games I Should Check Out

Reading Time: 3 minutes

I am looking forward to being at Tobacco Dock for EGX Rezzed 2020. I plan to be there every day, but if you are only able to go for one, then I would definitely recommend this niche event in this beautiful venue in East London. I have five games that I have seen advertised for EGX Rezzed that I am definitely going to check out, and I think you need to as well.

1 – As Far As The Eye – Unexpected

This procedural, turn-based, single player strategy game intrigues me. From the makers of Look Inside, which is available now on Steam, As Far As The Eye looks to be a 2.5D strategy game that reminds me of both the Civilization series which I did enjoy but lost love with at Civ VI, and Hash Rush which I really wanted to get into but couldn’t.

Maybe that is why I am hoping that As Far As The Eye is playable at EGX Rezzed, because I want to know if this is the missing piece of my strategy puzzle, that will get me back into games like Stellaris!

2 – Democracy 4 – Positech

EGX Rezzed have announced that Democracy 4 will be playable at Tobacco Dock this year, so I am going to be interested to see what they have done with this game. Democracy 3 and it expansions were something that I never got around to, we have to be choosy at some point, but at the same time I am wondering whether this is a game that I would play for myself, or play for a stream.

I think I am going to have to wait and see what is playable on the game before I make that decision. You know when there is a game that is right on the edge of your periphery…..

3 – Snowtopia – Tea For Two

Playing this at ExCeL in October, and seeing that there is an open Alpha already available on Itch.io, I want to head back to Tobacco Dock to take another look and to see what the developers have updated. Actually… I need to be able to installed Snowtopia on my computer to play it because the Itch.io shell is not playing ball at the moment and I do not know why (our next game had issues for me on there too).

Let’s summarise this game in a few words Ski Resort Tycoon immediately gaining my interest as a tycoon game and a ski resort simulator that I am hoping to be able to massacre hundreds of skiers off the cliff; how very Lemming of me!

4 – Empires of Ruins – Hammer & Ravens

This hybrid child of 4X and Tower Defence is a game that I have followed over the last year or so. I first played it at EGX Rezzed 2019, got involved in the last week’s of their Beta and have the occasional stream available to see on my YouTube channel. You might not have seen a review yet for Empires in Ruins here on SlowPsycho.tv, but I would say it is definitely a game worth checking out, with a clear plan or further development over the next few years.

Grab yourself a brandy and try out the Empire of Ruins demo to see if you can be the next Sgt Heimer!

5 – Stronghold Warlords

A new RTS release in the franchise, Stronghold Warlords is coming to EGX and is also playable. I have never played the Storonghold franchise, so it will be something that I will look at, and play, every one of the three days of Rezzed, so that I can get a feel for the franchise and possibly compare it to They Are Billions. I think I will enjoy the elements that are different such as recruiting and managing AI commanders.

What do YOU want to see?

Hit me up on Twitter and tell me what games you are looking forward to seeing at EGX Rezzed 2020. I will be at Tobacco Dock for all three days this year so that I can get as much gaming in as I can.
